Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day
Posted: 22nd June 2020
The annual Armed Forces Day will be marked in the borough of Havant from Monday 22 June when a specially commissioned flag will be flown outside the Public Service Plaza.
Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for those in the armed forces community, from serving troops and service families, to veterans and cadets, providing a much-valued morale boost.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the usual ceremony will not be possible, however the Mayor and Consort of Havant Councillor Diana Patrick and Mr James Spencer will attend the Plaza where the Mayor will raise the flag at 10 am, whilst observing all social distancing regulations.
The Mayor of Havant has recorded a video message in support of our armed forces which you can view on the Mayor's Facebook page.
The Mayor said “Armed Forces Day is an acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication of men and women in the services and to show our support to those who are currently serving.”
The Armed Forces flag will fly each day from sunrise to sunset until Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 June.
